The Gold River | Original Abstract Mixed Media Painting | Fire Series

This painting lived on the dining room wall for a month before it was done.

Built in coffee, dry pigments, texture paste, spray paint, and line, it went dark early — the pigment and coffee on the left kept pulling color through every layer, deepening everything into smoke. It sat there for weeks, unresolved, waiting. Then a coat of fixative sealed it, and gold spray paint cut a seam straight through the center.

That was the whole answer. A gold river running through the lava. Molten reds and rust hold the lower half, smoke rides the top, and the gold moves through all of it — not covering the dark, just refusing to be buried in it.

The Gold River is for the woman who has learned that some things aren't fixed by working harder at them. They're fixed by living with them long enough to hear what they're actually asking for. Who knows the light doesn't cancel the heat — it runs right through the middle of it.
